The last opera by the famous Italian composer Giacomo Puccini was left unfinished due to his death in 1924; it was completed by Franco Alfano in 1926 and became an immediate success. The opera’s version of the story is set in China where Prince Calaf falls in love with the cold princess Turandot. The Opera of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb will set the premiere of this monumental work in coproduction with the prominent Italian opera festival Sferisterio in Macerata. The opera will be directed by the renowned Italian directors’ Stefano Ricci and Gianni Fonte, conducted by Massmio Zanetti and Tonči Bilić.
