Where to celebrate Halloween in Joburg

21 Oct 2025
The world’s annual fright night (or week, or month – depending on how much fun you are), Halloween (Fri, Oct 31, 2025) is back to add a few more thrills and spills to this rollercoaster of a year in Joburg. We love this season, and are firm believers that it's not just for kids. From family fun to markets, parties, and more, here are a few events across the city that have our spines tingling with excitement from Thu, Oct 23 – Sat, Nov 1, 2025.

1. Family fun

Thu, Oct 23 – Kick off the season with a Wednesday Addams Paint Night at The Creatory in Linden. Paint everyone's favourite Addams on a coffin-shaped canvas while sipping your choice of wine or a cold drink.

Sat, Oct 25 – Embrace the thrills and chills at The Haunted Forest at the Inanda Country Base in Midrand, where frightful walks, creepy costumes, and spooky films will make your Halloween one to remember.

Fri, Oct 31 – Get your costumes ready for a Halloween Experience at Joburg Zoo in Rosebank, where trick-or-treat adventures, themed zones, and a movie under the stars promise frights and fun for the whole family.

2. Markets

Fri, Oct 31 – A hauntingly good time awaits at the Bedfordview Night Market's Halloween Edition at Giants Baseball Club in Edenvale, filled with fang-tastic food, wicked crafts, and live music, all while dressed to impress for the best-dressed competition.

Fri, Oct 31 – Rebels Market returns to Garden on Zeiss in Honeydew for a night of spooky fun, tasty food, and eerie drinks. Expect a trick-or-treat trail for kids, surprise giveaways, and prizes for the best-dressed ghouls and goblins.

Sat, Oct 25 – Halloween hits double (trouble) where one ticket gets you into two parties: The Headbanger’s Halloween Bash at Rumours Lounge in Strydompark and OHM x Vanity of the Damned parties at Sognage across the road. Rumours unleashes metal and monsters with ferocious sets from various DJs, while Sognage turns up the dark glamour with a dress code where halos are banned.

Fri, Oct 31 – Join Secret Sunrise JHB for a Halloween Sunset Dance at Bryanston Market, a guided silent disco where music, breathwork, and mystery meet beneath golden skies.

Fri, Oct 31 – Railways Café in Irene transforms into a haunted haven with Zaan Sonnekus, Taxi Violence, and Internet Girl headlining a killer Halloween lineup. Expect prizes for the best dressed and enough live music to wake the dead.

Fri, Oct 31 – #FOMOFridaysHalloween2025 returns to Club AM in Newtown for a night of twisted transformations and spine-tingling beats. Step into a nightmare where the grotesque becomes glamorous.

Fri, Oct 31 – Ode An Basso returns with its Halloween Edition at Bad Manors in Illovo, bringing cheeky basslines and a dance floor crawling with creatures of the night.

Sat, Nov 1  Halloween continues into November with Ramfest's Halloween edition in Pretoria, bringing an electrifying lineup headlined by international acts The Devil Wears Prada and Bongloard. Costumes and spin kicks guaranteed.

4. Outdoors
