From fierce predators to the tiniest of creatures, the wonders of the animal kingdom have been reflected in art for centuries. Artists have made studies from life, from their imagination or based on fantastic tales often far removed from reality. Already in the 16th century Albrecht Dürer was one of the first artists to view animals as a subject worthy of attention and he demonstrates this across a range of watercolors and prints that have become hugely popular and frequently reproduced. This unique temporary exhibition will have a few of his works on display, as well as the works of other artists fascinated with an animal imagery.
