The works of renowned Polish visual artist and playwright Bogna Burska are currently on display at the Günter Grass Gallery in Gdańsk, in her largest exhibition to date - Blood and Sugar. Featuring a huge body of work that is yet to be seen by the public, this is a chance to see the full spectrum of Burska's output, spanning various periods in the artist's career. The narrative, however, is less chronological and instead highlights different themes and artistic journeys that Burskahas explored. Bogna Burska is a versatile artist, carefully selecting the form to suit a well-thought-out concept, which often results in very diverse works, not avoiding risk and openness to error. She is known for juxtaposing different aesthetics that challenge the idea of 'beauty' and its counterpart of 'ugliness'. The artist seems to create in spite of the intellectual laziness of curators who are accustomed to a specific creative method of specific artists who “serially” reproduce similar works.

Blood and Sugar at the Günter Grass Gallery in Gdańsk is the second edition of the exhibition that had its premiere at Trafostacja Sztuki in Szczecin last fall. However, it will not be an exact recreation of the previous exhibition, but a selection and extension of the threads selected by the artist together with the curator!
