'In the Depths' at the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk showcases Polish submarines that played a vital role in the nation's technical progress during the People's Republic of Poland era. These underwater vehicles, with endearing names like Delfin, Grześ, Manta, and Meduza, were instrumental in deep-sea exploration, conducting surveys, measurements, and underwater photography. Humanity's innate curiosity about the underwater world has been a driving force since ancient times, leading to the development of diving equipment. In Poland, this journey began in the 19th century and culminated in the production of homegrown underwater vehicles between 1972 and 1993, a testament to the initiative, passion, and resourcefulness of Polish divers.
