Gdańsk

Lawendowa 8

A converted corner shop in what's become Gdansk's Hipster Central. You might ask why on first entering - a design incorporating some leftover black paint, a bar, some furniture nicked off a scrap heap and what looked like a 1980s Space Invader machine hardly scream interior design award nominee.
We're guessing the crowds that pour out onto the street are drawn here by the choice of locally-brewed Ales, which include Wing of Hop and Rowing Jack and are reminiscent of British ales in colour and taste. The rest seem to be drawn here to hang out in what people have dubbed ‘L-Osiem’.

After a skim through the Gdansk bars listed in the IYP guide, this one sounded like my kind of place, and indeed it was. Good beer, casual, laid back atmosphere, local vibe. We had an apartment not far from there and made ourselves regulars over the three nights we spent in Gdansk. Visited other bars as well, but this was our fave.
