In the spirit of celebrating 100 years of the avant-garde movement in Poland, this exhibit will present 35 of the artist's rarely seen works, gathered mostly from private collections. Zofia Artymowska (1923-2000) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and went on to teach there as an alumnus. An international soul, she taught at top arts universities in Tehran and Baghdad, and her works travelled to countries like Sweden, Denmark, the United States, Great Britain, Iran, and Spain in over 30 international exhibits. Nowadays, her artworks are found scattered across the globe in many great museums and private galleries worldwide. Her works often focused on the repetition of single, geometric units combined with metallic highlights, eliciting a 3D effect. This characteristic style is what ultimately established her as a key player in the op art movement. Op art, which is focused on eliciting a visual response rather than an emotional one, isn't recommended for those of you who are prone to motion sickness.
