The group exhibition African Leipzig is the result of 11 months of work by ten African artists (nine from South Africa and one from Addis Ababa) and ten German artists. The collaborative project between The Centre for the Less Good Idea, David Krut Projects and Leipzig International Art Programme saw each artist from Africa embarking on a three-month residency in Leipzig with the focus on creating new ways of working and collaborating across cultures and continents.
The prints which emerged from these collaborations not only demonstrate technical skill but are also incredibly exciting for how they bring printmakers, videographers, digital artists and performance together. The markings on the paper reflect the generative process and exemplify unbounded creativity.
Participating artists are: Katherine Bull, Freshwoyen Endrias, Bongile Lecoge-Zulu, Roxy Kaczmarek, Hemali Khoosal, Motlhoki Nono, Natalie Paneng, Oupa Sibeko, Tzung-Hui Lauren Lee, Xhanti Zwelendaba, Sebastian Burger, Silke Koch, Bjørn Melhus, Maria Ondrej, Vlado Ondrej, Ramona Schacht, Jana Schulz, Maria Schumacher, Raul Walch & Angelika Waniek.
