A second establishment for the owners of the lovely Dolci Cafe in Craighall, in partnership with the owner of the former Treviso cafe, brings two Italian families together to double the goodness of their efforts.

Bistro Dolce Vita, located in the luxurious The Regent apartment complex in Morningside, Sandton, is a bright and airy location with a small terrace adjoining the restaurant.  Co-owner and manager Sergio Caon is also a well-known bread baker so if you are a fan of sourdough breads order a loaf or two (in advance) to take home with you. The restaurant also stocks a fun range of food products that will have you browsing between courses. 

The menu brings together Italian classics and favorites with other Mediterranean-style dishes. There's a wide-ranging breakfast menu with all the staples plus an utterly decadent Dolce Vita French Toast and a "veggie breakfast" of sauteed spinach, grilled haloumi, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes on toast. 

The lunch and dinner menu includes light bites such as toasted sandwiches and a choice of quiches, and there's a great range of salads plus options to dress up your salad with grilled chicken or steak strips. Dinner mains include Dolci's excellent homemade pasta and gnocchi as well as fillet, grilled chicken and even a hamburger. And of course, with Dolce Vita being a reference to the Sweet Life and a nod to Federico Fellini’s famous film “La Dolce Vita”, the Italian desserts are dreamy.

We suggest you try the Amarula Creme Brulee. Another draw is that Bistro Dolce Vita's prices are exceptionally wallet-friendly compared to many nearby Sandton establishments. A liquor license is in process so check with the restaurant before arriving if you need to bring your own alcohol.
