Bringing some unique sparkle to the wintery month of July, Joburg Ballet presents Unbound, a collection of four contemporary, neo-classical ballet performances. The show includes the world premieres of two brand new pieces: Shannon Glover’s I Think, Therefore I Am (inspired by the French philosopher René Descartes) and dancer and choreographer Kitty Phetla’s Wakanda, an expanded version of the Breaking Ballet short film that Phetla starred in inspired by the fictional country of Wakanda, from the Black Panther comic series.

Also on the programme is a performance of Belgian choreographer Kevin Durwael’s Transcendence and Esther Nasser’s The Angel Trilogy, a quirky and humorous piece exploring ideas of personal energies and set to music by The Rolling Stones, Chopin and Mozart.

In an effort to make the enjoyment of ballet as inclusive as possible, Joburg Ballet has a range of special ticket offers including half-price tickets on the opening night and a flat ticket price of R100 for all seats for the performance on the morning of Wednesday July 10.
