The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra prepares for its Spring Season 2018.
The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) opens its Spring Season 2018 with a lively tribute to internationally-acclaimed South African composer Bongani Ndodana-Breen. With conductor William Eddins at the helm, the JPO will be joined by the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic for this two-part performance that brings to life Ndodana-Breen's piece, Ma Sisulu Sinfonia—an homage to the life and struggle of the late Albertina Sisulu.

Violinist Rachel Lee Priday is the showcase's featured soloist, performing a range of familiar classical compositions such as the bacchanales from Camille Saint-Saëns's Samson and Delilah, Johannes Brahms' Concerto for Violin in D Major, and symphonic dances from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story.

Future performances this season will feature conductors Justus Frantz (Oct 31 & Nov 1), Yasuo Shinozaki (Nov 7 & 8) and Daniel Boico (Nov 14, 15 & 17).
