What started out as a small country hotel in 1952 is now a hotel complex that has grown to house 260 hotel rooms, a Kgotla function venue, an African-themed restaurant Chiefs Boma as well as a Gin School, while still managing to retain its country hotel feel.
The place has been designed to activate your senses, and we love the attention to detail right down to the hotel’s signature scent designed to conjure an African bush lodge and bushveld gardens. The hotel is part of a chain that owns and operates lodges in Botswana so an authentic African feel is part of their DNA.
The Mowana Spa is named after the Baobab tree, an ancient tree species that has found its way into the folklore of Africa. The Spa focuses on providing a wellness journey, utterly enabled by the surroundings.
We recommend that you don’t just pop in. This is the place to visit for a day or overnight to take full advantage of what’s on offer. It’s a great way to reset post-conference.
The treatments have been designed to encourage lingering and to ensure you make the most of time out. Signature treatments include the Mowana Full Day Rejuvenation Pamper – a decadent spa experience including breakfast, lunch, complimentary beverages and six revitalising treatments; the romantic Mowana African Skies Night Spa Pamper which includes dinner, complimentary beverages and three treatments, and the luxurious Mowana African Escape Spa & Stay pamper journey for the ultimate relaxation.
The spa also has a store offering the locally developed Baobab Signature product range which makes use of the natural moisturising properties of the Baobab Kernel, used for centuries to protect the skin.
The hotel is located in close proximity to Lanseria International Airport (a 20-minute drive) and just under 40 minutes drive from OR Tambo International Airport. It is also less than hour's drive from Hartbeespoort and the Magaliesberg Mountains.
