Stephen Hobbs - Body Parts

Jul 20 - Aug 31 2019       142 Jan Smuts Ave, Parkwood
Stephen Hobbs’s new artworks, comprising of repurposed prints, sculpture and mixed-reality media installations, showcase an introspection inspired by his own difficult experiences, particularly his experiences of repeated medical interventions and serious surgery.

With a theme of “uncertainity about the future of things”, his new solo exhibition Body Parts draws on challenging themes and issues rooted in the living condititions in so-called 'bad buildings' and hospital trauma to examine the notion of recuperation and the how 'in-between' stages of rebuilding and incompleteness are unsettling to the body and mind.

Wed Aug 28 from 18:00: The artist Stephen Hobbs is joined in conversation by Jacqueline Flint discussing the themes and issues explored in this latest exhibition.
