Kraków Film Music Festival (FMF)

Wednesday May 5 - Tuesday Jun 1
Some of the best symphonic music today is composed for film, and it often goes without due recognition outside the world of cinematography. Luckily, since it can and does stand alone, film music concerts and festivals have grown substantially in popularity. This annual festival devoted to music specifically composed for, or popularised in, films has become one of Poland's most recognisable cultural exports, featuring a rich programme of live performances, open-air film screenings, and festival cycles like Dance2Cinema and Scoring4Polish Directors.

Unfortunately the 2020 edition was partially forced online and postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tickets and festival passes for the 2020 edition will not be valid in 2021 and will be refunded; tickets for 2021 will be on-sale online through the festival website. As was planned in summer 2020, 2021 will see the festival welcome a number of big names from the film world: director Jerzy Hoffman, named “the Great Hetman of Polish cinema,” and the creator of legendary adaptations of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s Trilogy; as well as John Powell, best known for his scores for animated films (Antz, Chicken Run, Shrek, Robots, Happy Feet, Ice Age, Bolt, Rio, and How to Train Your Dragon).
