One of Kraków's youngest churches, this basilica was built between 1903 and 1912 to replace a thirty-year-old makeshift chapel the Jesuits erected here after purchasing a plot of land from some local bigwig. The architect Franciszek Mączyński, responsible for Kraków's Stary Teatr (Old Theatre) and several other churches, equipped the structure with modernist, Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque elements.
