Grzegorz Gałązka is one of the most famous photographers accredited to the Vatican, photographing life there for several decades. He began his photographic journey with John Paul II in 1985, accompanying the Holy Father with his camera for over 20 years, including travelling with him on 44 foreign papal pilgrimages and even joining him during summer holidays and private meetings. During this time Gałązka took approximately one million photos of the Holy Father, including the photograph that would become the beatification portrait of John Paul II - arguably his best work. Testimony to Gałązka's closeness to the Polish Pope, this special exhibition at the John Paul II Family Home in Wadowice not only presents the life's work of the photographer, but also offers a rare intimacy with his main subject.
