Kraków Photomonth

This month-long biennial event is one of the largest photography festivals in Europe. The beginning of Photomonth in Kraków dates back to 2002, when it began as a vibrant and rebellious annual festival, organised in abandoned buildings, artistic communities, crowded bars, and unknown galleries. Later it transformed into one of Kraków's most exciting and ambitious festivals, hosted by museums and the most prestigious exhibition spaces. Since the pandemic, Photomonth has switched to an 'every-other-year' schedule, occurring in even-numbered years. Beginning in mid-May Bunkier Sztuki (Gallery of Contemporary Art) and many of the city's best galleries, cafes, museums, cultural centres, and even more unique locations like public parks, private flats, and post-industrial spaces will be filled with dozens of individual and collective photo exhibitions. The accompanying events include meetings, workshops, and film screenings.

The theme of the 2026 edition of the festival is 'Unreal Estate.' Check the official website for updates and full programme details.
