One of Kraków’s most beloved institutions, the ‘Art Bunker’ features 3 floors of cutting-edge contemporary art, a bookstore, kid’s area and heated patio cafe.
Bunkier Sztuki Gallery of Contemporary Art in Kraków.
Housed in a striking Brutalist building in Kraków’s Old Town, Bunkier Sztuki is one of Poland’s leading contemporary art institutions, First opened in 1965, its bold design sparked controversy but has since become iconic. After a major restoration, it reopened in its original home, offering three floors of dynamic exhibitions by Polish and international artists. The space also features a gallery bookshop, a children’s area, and the beloved Bunkier Café—an outdoor café, bar, and beer garden restored in 2024. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2025, Bunkier Sztuki continues to be a vital hub for modern and contemporary art. Average visiting time: 60mins.
I walked into a spartan exhibition. not so much to see or learn. short and unimpressive (i guess avante garde) films from various parts of the world.

Before MOCAK came along this was Kraków's best contemporary art gallery. Still great as ever and whereas MOCAK takes half a day to visit you can easily do Bunkier in an hour without leaving the Old Town and you've still got time to kill in the beer garden on the ground floor. Recommended.
