Face to Face: Art in Auschwitz

Jul 7 - Nov 19 2017       Pl. Szczepański 9

The exhibit “Face to face: Art in Auschwitz” will be at the Szołayski House for the 70th anniversary of the creation of a museum on the grounds of the former Nazi German concentration and extermination camp at Auschwitz. During WWII, many Polish artists, academics and intellectuals were targeted and sent to Auschwitz, including professional artists like Jan Komski, Adam Bowbelski and Franciszek Targosz. Art created in the horrific realities of Auschwitz is a testament to the fight for humanity by those interred there. This exhibit is the first of its kind to show so many original works created by Auschwitz prisoners.
