Poznań is a special place to be for the winter holidays and festive season, which kick off locally as early as mid-November. During 'Poznań Bethlehem' (Betlejem Poznańskie) - the banner under which the city organises its annual Christmas events - the city beats back the winter gloom with festive holiday decorations, Christmas markets, cultural events, hearty comfort food, mulled wine and beer, and a magical atmosphere throughout the Old Town.
The biggest highlights each year are undoubtedly the lighting of the city's Christmas tree, the opening of the Poznań Christmas Markets and the incredible weekend of the Poznań Ice Festival. This year (2025-26) the city will resume its recent festive configuration, with an unmatched three Christmas markets - each lasting for at least five weeks!
