Probably the nicest place to hang out in Nowa Huta if you're having a socialist realism overdose, this reservoir and the surrounding park have served as a recreation ground for the district's hardworking residents since 1957. Although the area fell into disrepair in the 90s, it has been invested in heavily and modernised in recent years, turning it into a bona fide family attraction ideal for picnicking and enjoying the sunshine. Food trucks, coffee and ice cream are all on hand in summer, and around the perimetre you’ll also find an outdoor stage, pier, graduation tower, parkour course, sports courts, a playground and artificial beach, plus public pools and an entire fun park for kids. Kayaks and paddle boats can be rented here and if you’re really brave, you can even go swimming in the lake, or sign on for a 2hr float trip down the Dłubnia river, which flows from here to the Wisła. Fishing is also encouraged - the reservoir is regularly re-stocked to appease the local fishermen.

For further adventure, you can find a trail behind the playground quickly leading to the Jan Matejko Manor House and the next-door 17th-century wooden Church of St. John the Baptist; both sites are seldom open, but make for an interesting glimpse at the village vibes Nowa Huta's colossal concrete corridors wiped out.
