The Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa set to reopen in May
One of South Africa's leading luxury hotels, The Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa in Sandhurst is preparing to reopen on May 1 after being closed for more than a year. During the lockdown the hotel has revamped its signature Qunu restaurant and re-decorated other areas of the hotel, while the food and beverage team have been hard at work conjuring up new dishes for the restaurant and creating a new look cocktail menu.
There's also been a big focus on implementing a rigorous new safety programme and training staff to work under the new protocols. For guests requiring PCR Covid testing to travel after their stay, the hotel now has a partnership with Doctors on Call who will conduct tests in the convenience and privacy of the guest’s suite, with results received 24-48hrs later. Radisson Red Rosebank launching in June
Originally slated to open in February 2021, Joburg's first Radisson Red hotel is now set to officially launch in June. The Radisson Red brand is known for its youthful atmosphere and decor and signature rooftop pool bars. Based at the new Oxford Parks development (also home to Moeng restaurant, The Greenhouse bar and Doubleshot Coffee), the hotel is set to be yet another exciting addition to one of the liveliest districts in the northern suburbs, Rosebank.New hotel The Mighty Fine to open in Sandton
Scheduled for a soft opening in March, The Mighty Fine is a new 62-room 'hybrid concept hotel' in Strathavon, Sandton, designed by international award-winning interior designer Tristan du Plessis and local creative duo Jana + Koos. Designed with flexibility in mind the hotel offers access to an all-day community cafe, a podcast studio for hire and a lobby turned co-working space. Rooms come with fully equipped kitchens and are designed to appeal to both short and long stay guests, particularly designers, creatives, entrepreneurs, and freelancers. The hotel's restaurant will be run by the team from Morning Glory in Parkwood and is envisaged as a casual 'all-day eatery', complemented by a super cool 'treehouse bar'.
