Chris Niedenthal. Poland - China - Europe 1989

Jun 1 - Sep 30 2019       Plac Solidarności 1, Gdańsk
Chris Niedenthal’s photography exhibition offers a trip back in time to the first free elections after World War II, the triumph of Solidarity in Poland, thousands of students at Tiananmen Square, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the overthrow of Nicolae Ceaușescu’s dictatorship - all of it happening while the Soviet Union's foundations were crumbling. The exhibition is an opportunity especially for the younger generation to learn what those turbulent years of political changes meant not only for Polish people, but also for the rest of the world. The exhibition is a reminder to the generation that lived in those times, an important history lesson to those that were born around that time, and most of all, an important homage to the heroic past.
