Hosted in association with The Sunday Times, the inaugural Bridge Book Festival is a celebration of Joburg's literary heritage and culture hosted in the heart of the historic city centre. The event takes place at four historic venues, all within walking distance of each other; the <a href="https://www.inyourpocket.com/johannesburg/rand-club_123501v">Rand Club</a> (built 1887), <a href="https://www.inyourpocket.com/johannesburg/city-central-food-hall_147063v">Oppenheimer Park</a>, <a href="https://www.inyourpocket.com/johannesburg/capital-cafe_147055v">Cornerhouse</a> (built 1903) and the <a href="https://www.inyourpocket.com/johannesburg/bridge-books_145675v">Bridge Books</a> bookshop in the <a href="https://www.inyourpocket.com/johannesburg/city-central-food-hall_147063v">City Central</a> building on Commissioner Street. The festival promises a day packed with readings and literary events featuring writers such as Niq Mhlongo, Yewande Omotoso, Samantha Cowen and Fred Khumalo and ends with a cocktail party (from 16:00) at the new Brass Bar in the grand City Central building.
