Shop Joburg: 11 stores we're loving (March 2026)

04 Mar 2026
One of the pleasures of living in Joburg is discovering the spaces that give the city its character. From homegrown fashion labels and streetwear cult favourites to unique homeware, pre-loved designer finds, and even shops that give back to animals in need, these stores are too good not to share. Each one tells its own story – whether it’s showcasing local makers, celebrating Mzansi creativity, or turning everyday shopping into something a little more special.

1. & by Andticks

We've long admired Vicky Ross – from her work with 44 Stanley to her pop-up shopping experience with Andticks – so we’re thrilled to see the next chapter unfold. & by Andticks, a permanent store at Nine Yards, is thoughtfully stocked with fashion, ceramics, textiles, homeware, and art objects by independent South African designers. It’s all about quality materials, small runs, and pieces with personality – great for gifting or just to elevate your everyday.

Cape Town’s coolest artist-led fashion label, Artclub and Friends, brings its effortlessly chic unisex style to Joburg with a dedicated store, also at Nine Yards. The brand offers quality casualwear that’s fun, a little quirky, and crafted in versatile colours designed to flatter all ages, body types, and genders.

3. Boys of Soweto

Swanky, and unapologetically bold, Boys of Soweto opened its new flagship store – as sharp as the tailoring it’s known for – in October 2025. Founded in 2011 by Vusumuzi “Bob” Ndima, the label blends vintage township flair and esbhujwa (boujee) culture with contemporary luxury, earning features in GQ and collaborations with Palladium and Markham. It's also instantly recognisable for its signature monogram stamped on almost every piece.

4. Happyville

Backed by a loyal online following, those cool vinyl and leather jackets taking over social media? That’s Happyville. Founded by Lebo Serame in 2017, the cult streetwear label evolved from viral favourite to a real-world home in Parkhurst in November 2025. Inside the store, you’ll find standout pieces – beanies, tees, cargo pants, and leather trucker jackets in yellows, burgundies, and indigos. Happyville proves that what starts on your feed can end up defining the street.

5. Maison Deux

Maison Deux at Hyde Park Corner is where fashion, homeware, and café culture come together in the chicest way. You can browse globally loved labels like Etro, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs, then wander into the home section with Missoni Home, Zarina Tableware, and Dolce & Gabbana Casa – a one-stop spot to refresh both your wardrobe and your living space. At the heart of it all: South Africa’s first Marc Jacobs Café, a New York-inspired social hub where you can linger over a coffee, soak in the surroundings, and enjoy the perfect pause in your shopping spree.

6. Old School

The old reimagined as new, the Old School x Bafana Bafana collaboration.

South Africa is a sporting nation through and through, and with the FIFA World Cup kicking off in June 2026 and Mzansi playing in the opening match, the hype is very real. Just in time for kickoff, Old School has teamed up with the South African Football Association to drop a limited run of Bafana Bafana knitted T-shirts, inspired by those timeless ’90s Kappa kits the team rocked during their glory days.

What started in a Stellenbosch dorm in 2019 – when brothers Daneel and Stephan Steinmann went searching for the perfect vintage Springbok rugby jersey and came up empty-handed – has grown into a full-blown sportswear success story. Today, Old School goes well beyond rugby, with knitwear collaborations spanning Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, and NBA Africa, plus physical stores popping up across Joburg, from Mall of Africa to Sandton City and Rosebank Mall.

7. The Ninevites

We spotted The Ninevites at Decorex in July 2025 and haven’t stopped thinking about their beautifully textured pieces since – so you can imagine our excitement that they’ve now opened shop at 44 Stanley. Known for their handwoven wool rugs, cushions, and blankets, they celebrate texture, geometry, and African design in the most satisfying way, working with materials like mohair and other richly tactile fibres. We also love their statement wall hangings that instantly add warmth, depth, and a subtle 3D element to any room.

Looking to add a pop of colour or a dash of fun to your space? We’re smitten with the high-quality and wonderfully cosy homeware from Something Good Studio. Founded by Zydia Botes in 2018, this collaborative studio teams up with local artists to create limited-edition blankets, throws, rugs, and other functional art, including unique knitted notebooks, made from locally sourced natural fibres. Their Joburg store at Nine Yards is a must-visit. Sharing the spotlight is their in-house label, Romaria, launched with Carlo Pinto in 2019 – luxurious, artful knit cardigans, kimonos, cloaks, and wraps made to layer beautifully from season to season.

9. Wizards Vintage

Enjoy a touch of glamour at Wizard's Vintage. Photo: Wizards Vintage.

Not exactly the new kid on the block, but forever fabulous, Wizards Vintage has been serving up pre-loved designer garms since 2008. Founded by Annabelle Desfontaines Everest and Braam Naudé, it’s long been a go-to for fashion lovers with a taste for the finer things. Now the beloved boutique has a chic new address in Dunkeld as part of Manor House – a dreamy emporium bringing standout brands together under one very stylish roof. Wizards rubs shoulders with the likes of Kate Sunley’s luxe bath-and-body range and Belegra’s handcrafted leather accessories.

With Naudé at the helm, every visit feels personal (and just a little bit glamorous). From Karl Lagerfeld pyjama sets to Salvatore Ferragamo heels and Dolce & Gabbana blazers, Wizards Vintage turns second-hand shopping into a stylish adventure.

10. Woodrock Thrift

If you love a good thrift find and helping furry friends, Woodrock Thrift in Parkwood is a spot you should check out. Opened in February 2026 as part of Woodrock Animal Rescue, every purchase – from clothes and accessories to books, décor, and furniture – helps fund the care and rehabilitation of rescued animals. With contemporary fashion, and a local designer section featuring labels Asatsi Africa, Imprint by Mzukisi Mbane, and Fundudzi, shopping here feels good in more ways than one.
