This exhibit at the Kraków Ethnographic Museum presents the manifold customs related to the period of seasonal transition from winter to spring. Taking the viewer through different cultures and traditions, both past and present, it demonstrates how often they overlap, intertwine and draw on common sources. In this context, it examines our cultural understanding of time, searches for symbols of spring, fertility and life, and shows practices used to scare away winter and combat evil. The main characters are objects, photographs and paintings from the Ethnographic Museum's collection which tell individual stories about spring, show its symbols, signs and incarnations.
