This travelling exhibit reintroduces the brilliant painter Leonardo da Vinci - known in Kraków for his painting Lady with an Ermine - as a brilliant engineer. The literal definition of a multi-talented 'Renaissance man,' da Vinci was most proud of his engineering skills, inventing machines that were well ahead of their time. This large spacious exhibit features 40 contemporary wooden models based on Leonardo’s original designs - 15 of which are interactive, allowing you to test them yourself. Among the inventions - conceived of 500 years ago, mind you - visitors can admire flying machines, combat vehicles such as the scythe chariot or the prototype of the modern tank, the pedometer, the bicycle, the hygrometer, as well as the parachute or the diving suit. Divided into 6 thematic areas - Optics, Mechanics, Road, Water, War and Air - visitors will also see reproductions of da Vinci’s drawings and paintings, from the Mona Lisa to The Last Supper , and learn more about the work of the eminent humanist, who was not only a painter, but a visionary and experimenter in technical amenities.
