This fibre arts exhibit - comprising three separate project cycles by Magdalena Wesołowska-Kuta - occupies three of NCK's galleries: the Grey (Szara), Black (Czarna) and Gold (Złota) exhibition spaces. Wesołowska-Kuta (born in 1978 in Kowary) works in batik - a wax-resist dyeing technique used to decorate fabric. Hot wax is applied to cloth, then the fabric is dyed; the wax resists the dye, so when it’s removed, the covered areas remain their original colour. Repeating the process can create create layered, intricate designs. Featuring several dozen of Wesołowska-Kuta's latest works, the artist confirms her impeccable technique, excellent sense of form, and extraordinary ability to create a poetic mood, as well as her inexhaustible need to seek new inspiration.
