Midway between Joburg's historic City Centre and the business district of Sandton, the cosmopolitan Rosebank is one of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. Yet, despite being one of our regular stomping grounds, there's always something new to discover in this friendly, walkable district – with its ever-evolving assortment of places to eat, stay, work, and play. From boutique hotels and contemporary art spaces to standout restaurants and cosy cafés, here are some of the latest Rosebank openings on our radar.

New dining and coffee spots in Rosebank

1. EPICURE AT ONE

Located within One Rosebank Executive Apartment HotelEpicure at One is the latest venture from multi-award-winning Chef Coco Reinarhz. This refined Pan African restaurant introduces guests to an inventive and exciting flavour vocabulary, blending modern culinary artistry with African roots. The elegantly designed space offers a full experience across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night tapas.

With premium service and exquisite décor, Epicure at One also features private dining options, signature cocktails, curated food-and-wine pairings, and a stylish cigar lounge – making it a standout culinary destination in Rosebank.

here.joburg coffee shop is Rosebank’s newest coffee and gallery spot, quickly gaining popularity with its weekend pastry drops and quality brews from Father Coffee. This multi-use cultural hub combines coffee, co-working, design, and exhibition space. Every Saturday and Sunday from 07:30, DJs spin vinyl sets in this bright, design-forward environment with furniture by the daily.store, that is as much about connection as it is about great coffee.

3. PRET A MANGER

Pret A Manger launched its second South African location at The Zone @ Rosebank. Known for fresh, ready-to-eat meals and ethically sourced coffee, the UK-born brand brings a fast yet considered food experience to the neighbourhood. The Rosebank store features a bold mural by UJ student Precious Mogoje and offers a menu that includes favourites like smoked trout sandwiches, alongside salads, wraps, and all-day brews – perfect for a quick stop between meetings or a casual lunch on the move.

4. PROUD MARY'S TERRACE UPGRADE
Proud Mary’s popular terrace has received an elegant refresh — now blending mid-century flair with lush greenery and warm, open-air appeal. Overlooking Cradock Avenue, the updated space brings in more natural light and enhances the restaurant’s seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Already known for its elevated menu and chic interiors, the revamped terrace cements Proud Mary as a go-to for relaxed brunches, sunset drinks, and everything in between — with front-row views of the street’s everyday buzz.

5. WEDGEWOOD ROSEBANK GIFTING AND HAMPER EMPORIUM

Wedgewood Emporium at The Zone @ Rosebank offers a delightful selection of handcrafted nougat alongside artisan biscuits and curated hampers. Each treat showcases meticulous craftsmanship, blending nostalgic flavours with refined quality. From special celebrations to simple pleasures, Wedgewood’s range promises to satisfy every sweet craving.

6. GALLERY 1

Gallery 1 in the Trumpet building at Keyes Art Mile has undergone a major transformation, emerging as a museum-grade art space. Equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, climate control, and acoustic detailing, the gallery is designed to meet the highest standards for exhibiting valuable and sensitive artworks. This upgrade allows Gallery 1 to showcase important collections with the care and professionalism they deserve. The debut exhibition, Looking Back, Seeing Now, highlights iconic South African modernists such as Gerard Sekoto, Maggie Laubser, and JH Pierneef, underscoring the gallery’s status as a leading cultural destination.

7. LIZAMORE ON KEYES

Lizamore on Keyes is the new permanent gallery space for Lizamore & Associates. Designed as a thoughtful and welcoming environment, the gallery focuses on carefully curated group exhibitions and significant solo shows, offering longer exhibition runs than typical galleries. The programming emphasises inclusion, hospitality, and meaningful engagement with art.

The Johannesburg satellite of Cape Town based Under the Aegis gallery at here.joburg on Tyrwhitt Avenue is more than just a gallery – it’s a multi-use cultural hub combining coffee, co-working, design, and exhibition space. Founded by curator Anelisa Mangcu, Under the Aegis supports emerging artists by providing resources and opportunities to present their work on both local and international stages. This innovative approach brings art into everyday life and broadens access to creative expression, with the space actively participating in Joburg’s First Thursdays art events.

9. ONE ROSEBANK

Tricolt DevelopmentsOne Rosebank Executive Apartment Hotel, which launched in May 2025, is now open. Previously known as The Winston Boutique Hotel, the newly opened Park Hyatt Johannesburg brings understated luxury to Melrose. Set in a restored 1930s heritage mansion, the 31-key property blends classical architecture with contemporary elegance. Guests can enjoy serene gardens, a courtyard pool, curated South African art, and refined dining at Room 32. With a wine-focused lounge, soon-to-launch wellness spa, and intimate event spaces, Park Hyatt Johannesburg is a sophisticated new addition to the neighbourhood’s hospitality offering.

Pink Mama’s offers a fresh take on Southern Italian dining in a playful, pastel-toned setting. Located in Dunkeld, near Rosebank — right next to the Africa Padel courts and the children’s play haven Joy Jozi — it blends casual elegance with family-friendly charm. Expect wood-fired pizzas, summery spritzes, and a breezy indoor-outdoor atmosphere. It’s an ideal spot to combine a padel game with a relaxed meal — while the kids enjoy supervised play next door. 12. GARDEN FRESH

Located in Parktown North in the nursery facing Goodman Gallery across Bolton Road, this airy glass barn is filled with natural light and the most exciting collection of fresh produce and flowers. The store is filled with all manner of food delights and each Saturday gives space to a new pop-up food vendor. The owners here say they can source just about any fresh fruit or vegetable – from heirloom tomatoes to truffles and oyster mushrooms. Avid cooks should bookmark this spot as a must-visit. 13. RELISH

Just down Jan Smuts Avenue, the newly revamped Astron Energy Rosebank (April 2025) is home to Relish – a 24-hour halaal 'food oasis' that’s already pulling fans from the East Rand, Brits, Limpopo, and even Botswana. Prayer rooms, generous restaurant seating across two floors, and a curated selection of goods make this so much more than just a pitstop. Sit down for a wood-fired pizza in the double-storey restaurant. The original Pistachio-Knafeh bar by Fix?
