Clico Boutique Hotel has welcomed in a new head chef as well as a new restaurant space. Chef Dario Angeli (Chef-Owner of the award-winning Cube Tasting Kitchen & Est Est Alea) announced his residency at the opening of 400 Degrees at Clico: a casual Italian pizza, pasta and antipasti offering served on the terrace area of the hotel. Head over there for bubble crusted Neapolitan-style pizzas and gin and tonics from their Hendrick's gin bar. It's a great spot for quick work lunches, afterwork drinks and laid-back dinners. (The fine dining offering from Clico is still available for lunch and dinner in the formal interior of the hotel.)

Aurum launches their new winter menus

Aglio e Olio with chilli and prawns at Aurum

The spectacular restaurant located on the 7th floor of The Leonardo just launched their new lunch and dinner menus.  The focus of the restaurant has always been on seasonal, sustainably-sourced ingredients, served with swish sophistication. The crisp and fresh flavours of summer have been replaced with rich sauces, earthy tones and more indulgent ingredients. The  Aglio e Olio with prawns, chilli and lashings of parmesan is a must.

Something Different

A Mzansi Tavern Chef cook-off. Yes, you heard right. On May 23, The Chefs Training and Innovation Academy in Centurion will host the top tavern chefs from Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West in a competition designed to combat binge drinking by promoting the serving of food in taverns. It's not open to the public as it's the first year of the event, but we'll be sure to share pics of what went down in our June edition.
