The Church of Saint Martin (Golden gate) [Crkvica sv. Martina ]

The church is 1.64m wide and 10m long and it just might be the smallest church in the world. It used to be the passage for watchmen who would secure the entrance into the Diocletian Palace. At the beginning of the 9th century it was turned into a Christian church and consecrated to Saint Martin. Next to the church, there is a Dominican convent. The first nuns arrived to Split in the 14th century and settled next to the church at the Golden Gates. They were called picokare. Today, the nuns take care of the nearby Cathedral of Saint Domnius.
