Take a day-trip to Zaprešie! It's only only 20min (17km) from Zagreb by bus, train or car (northwest on Freeway A-70) and is home to an amazing number of castles. Be sure to call ahead and arrange for a group tour or simply drive by and pull the camera out. There are a number of local restaurants and klets (wineries) in town, making your full day the essence of satisfying.
The art family Petrić live and work here. Every summer there's an art festival here, each artist leaving something behind - you can imagine the amazing variety of neat stuff.

7km out of Zaprešie, it was built in 1882. There's a beautiful French garden and all the art was completed by Ivan Kausen. It's currently an orphanage.

1.5km from the centre, this castle is the grave-site of the famous Croatian family Jelacie who lived here from 1611-1851. Much of the stuff inside the castle was stolen during WWII and some of the graves were desecrated. Family photo gallery.
