The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a must for nature lovers, offering an unrivalled chance to see many native species in their natural bushland and rainforest settings. Famous for the twice daily feedings of flocks of Rainbow Lorikeet, an especially beautiful parrot, the sanctuary also has Tasmanian Devils, kangaroos, dingoes, emus, wombats, echidnas, and more, from the iconic to lesser known wonders, with visitors able to interact with many of the animals (yes - you too can hug a koala). The park also hosts activities, from a Segway Safari to an opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal culture, as well as a regular Friday night market, from 16:00 to 21:00, that raises money for the local community. It’s important to note that this is not a sad zoo with animals in cages, but instead a wildlife park dedicated to the conservation and preservation of Australian wildlife, and includes a veterinary and rehabilitation hospital, which your visit will help support. Overall, a great way to spend several hours.
