The sparkling brand new Passage of Discovery, with its eye on science/technology/astronomy, including its very own planetarium (separate ticket), is an exciting and worthwhile way to spend a couple of hours with younger (or not so young) adults in Tarnów. Spread over two floors and in the heart of the Old Town, its hands-on and multimedia-focus makes learning (almost) seem like fun, and should capture the attention of anyone who is curious about the world. Famous Polish scientists will guide you around the exhibition where you can try your hand at a multitude of various oddball interactive installations e.g. the history of pinball-style flippers, or get a chance to construct your own large pixel board (terrible resolution). You can also be transported around the universe via the magical planetarium (Saturdays), and have scientific elements explained in an easy, approachable way - there are even lego-type molecular structures to be created. The weapons manufacturer display that concluded the tour was presumably because they may have provided some funding, but this anomaly aside, it's an enjoyable adventure. Onsite educational workshops are also provided. Enquire at the office.
