The town of Resen and its immediate surroundings are famed for the fruit that’s grown there, in particular the apples that can be seen growing in large and small orchards throughout the region. A fun and interesting diversion away from all the usual tourist activities in this part of North Macedonia can be found courtesy of a visit to the Spirit of Prespa farm in the village of Carev Dvor just south of Resen on the road that leads to the Galičica National Park. In business for over 60 years and producing a wide range of fruit including apples, cherries and plums and well as nuts and other produce, tours of the farm and visits to pick your own fruit to buy and take away can be arranged in advance and both are well worth doing. The farm also produces a range of beeswax candles using wax sourced from beekeepers in the nearby mountains that can be bought at the farm’s small shop.
