National Museum [Muzeum Narodowe]

Wrocław's National Museum houses one of the largest collections of Polish art. Before the 18th century this means almost exclusively religious art: altarpieces, urns for relics, busts of saints and the like. Later parts of the collection also include applied arts and quite a few pieces on national themes (uprisings and saints figure heavily in Polish history). By far the most interesting bit is the 20th-century collection. Innovative installation artists like Magdalena Abakanowicz and Józef Szajna make this an exciting period in Polish art.

Admission 15/10zł. Groups over 10 people 5zł per person, Sat free. Entry free with a ticket to the nearby Racławice Panorama.

Very interesting museum to visit if you're a little bit interested in art.I found that the silesian middle age exhibit was the most interesting with magnificent wooden tryptics for example. The later centuries exhibits seemed to me a little bit less interesting but as I am a XIXth century lover I could find some interesting paintings from that period (but no masterpieces). There are a few interesting pieces from XXth century too for example several works from the communist era.Last but not least the building itself is quite beautiful from the inside and is worth the visit! To sum up worth the visit!
