It might not be the biggest city in the world, but make no mistake about it — there are plenty of ways to spend money in Košice. This is the main shopping hub of East Slovakia, and people flock from the region to the shops, malls and stores of this proud city. Košice is home to a handful of shopping centres that tick a whole heap of boxes, and we’ve handily put them into a neat little pile for you right here.
Smack-bang in the heart of the city and just a short walk from the bus and train stations, Aupark is the main central shopping arena in Košice. With plenty of fashion-centric stores alongside electronics, design, family and other kinds of shops, not to mention the countless food options and large supermarket, Aupark is a modern day European mall that knows exactly what it is doing. The supermarket does get quite busy with aimless wanderers though, so be ready for that.
A large shopping centre located between the centre of the city and the airport, Atrium Optima has all the usual brand stores (H&M, Bata, NewYorker etc) as well as plenty of food and electronics options. There is also a large Billa supermarket. The mall is best accessed via bus, using the 10, 23, 25 or 52 bus.
A Kaufland-dominated shopping centre in the newer part of Košice, Galéria is set over two floors and is full of fashion, electronics and the rest. The focus is less on commercial shopping and more on wholesale goods, although we rarely pass up an opportunity to visit Pepe Chicken. Trams 6 and 9 both service the centre, along with bus lines 71 and 72.
