The meaning of Trapenza is “monks eating room”. Located in the cellar of a former monastery, this is really traditional Ukrainian food at its best with low prices. The menu is in a metal book and in English. Drinks are served in old wooden cups and sometimes one hears the Ghost walking about late at night! There is also an adjoining art gallery and outside seating as well. A real experience!

We stayed in Lviv for a month and this was our favorite restaurant. Tucked below an art school - the tiny space is absolutely charming. Prices are extremely reasonable. Try the braised lamb, onion pie, beans with carrots and tomatoes, ratatouille, and board ribs.
