For the kids, there's a designated play area by Play Africa, who will have fun and educational activities to ensure the youngest ones have just as good a time as you do. And if you needed more motivation to go, here's what you can expect at the Curated Maker's Market

Fashion will be in focus with special collaborations and talks on the programme, including a presentation by the hottest local and international designer of the moment, Thebe Magugu. His Mother and Child collection brings art and fashion together, casting a spotlight on nine South African cultures. Also on the fashion front, denim designer Tshepo Mohlala of Tshepo Jeans and artist Alka Dass will showcase a collaborative piece inspired by the idea that light can be used as a window to own, reclaim and share our histories.

And if your bookshelf needs a refresh, the first official TAF Bookstore makes its debut, bringing with it collectable works focusing on art, photography and fashion. If that isn't enough motivation to go, we give you reasons to get your tickets now and 10 artists to see at the fair

Wanda Lephoto's S/S24 collection

Me Fie cotton shirt and pants. Photo: Wanda Lephoto via Instagram.

Local designer Wanda Lephoto launched his Spring/Summer 2024 collection called PEOPLE in June. The collection is a bold fusion of contemporary style and vintage charm, showcasing a range of versatile and avant-garde pieces. Distressed shirts, cotton pants and shorts, cherry-coloured striped jackets and statement printes make up the collection which talk to the modern African fashion landscape. Our absolute favourite pieces from the collection are the Mie Fie trenchcoat and suit. The Mie Fie (meaning 'My Place of Origin’ in Akan, a Ghanian language) garments are inspired by the late designer Virgil Abloh’s 3% design rule which reasoned that you could create something new by changing a process, a product or perspective by three percent to give it a new life while still maintaining familiarity. The collection is yet to go on sale but we'll keep you updated.

We Are Egg x Samarai Farai at Rosebank Mall

Shopping with artistic flair. Photo: We Are Egg via Instagram.

Retail store We Are Egg, which landed in Johannesburg from Cape Town in October 2022, has launched an art and clothing collection titled The Space Between Spaces by emerging local artist Samurai Farai on Thu, Jul 6 at their store in Rosebank Mall. The collection includes exclusive pieces of art and apparel from the artist which are available in-store and online, albeit in extremely limited quantities. That's not all, Farai's work has also taken over the entrance tunnel of the store, and if you have to go up and down the escalator a couple of times, we wouldn't blame you, it's truly amazing work.
