Over the past 125 years, Michelin - a French automotive company - has pulled off the unlikely magic trick of aligning their brand not with rubber tyres, but with the world's most exclusive gastronomic addresses. Incredibly, each year their influence continues to grow, powered by the eagerness of the tourism and gastronomy industries to get their attention and win their praise. Inclusion in the MICHELIN Guide is currently the most prestigious honour a restaurant can receive, making careers and reputations overnight, while also changing the way a city's food culture is perceived and experienced.
Kraków has been on the radar of Michelin's supposedly invisible and anonymous inspectors since 2008, when 16 restaurants were included in the company's guide to the Main Cities of Europe. Today it is the most recognised city in Poland in terms of Michelin stars and selections, with a reputation for excellent gastronomy that exceeds even Warsaw. In 2025, 23 Kraków restaurants made it into the Michelin Guide to Poland, and you'll see their red plaques proudly displayed outside each restaurant as you explore the city.

⭐⭐Bottiglieria 1881
The only restaurant in Kraków to receive a star, and the only two-star restaurant in the entire country, for several years Michelin has made their stance clear: Bottiglieria 1881 is the best restaurant in Poland. Discreetly tucked on a Kazimierz side-street, IYP says Bottiglieria "exudes class and taste with a sharp decór of fine stonework and aged rough-hewn timber, an open kitchen, superior service, chef's tables and a private dining room in the expertly stocked wine cellar (which boasts over 500 vintages!)." Michelin says that "sophistication, depth and a wonderful purity of flavour can all be found in the cooking at this understatedly elegant restaurant" where "each finely crafted course is finished with an artistic flourish." Michelin 'Bib Gourmand' Restaurants in Kraków
According to the tyre people, 'Bib Gourmand' denotes restaurants that offer "exceptionally good food at moderate prices." This is one of the most-coveted designations in the industry, perhaps because it signals a false affordability in addition to excellence.
