Nearly everyone feels at home in the funky district of Pietermaai these days, but where nightlife, entertainment and fine dining is now the norm, drug peddling and other illegal activities once thrived. Luckily, times have changed and in the past decade a number of different companies and organisations have invested time and money to create a better life for the area and its residents. BPO Caribbean, which provides advice, assistance and standard as well as tailor-made training to bring about change is working hard – with a handful of local parties – to bring safety and security to a whole new level. In short, BPO tries to teach better living via its universal motto: safer, leaner and greener. Soon a safety app will also be released to inform the public about all of the daily changes that are taking place in the most fascinating neighbourhood on the island.
