Usually, the only time alcohol is permitted in church is when the priest offers communion during a service, but in this former house of worship anyone who is of age can drink to their hearts’ content. The De Poorten community centre has now built a cosy retreat where the altar used to be. The architect also deserves some praise for respectfully preserving many of the old church's original elements and seamlessly integrating these into this glass cage. Get comfy in one of the 10 seats available and enjoy the extremely low prices for a cup of coffee or tea (€0.55), a toasted sandwich (€1.30) or the local spirit, Schrobbeler.
