A 13th century beaut in the Little Carpathians, Červený Kameň Castle truly is a sight for sore eyes. For centuries it was in the possession of one of Hungary’s wealthiest families, and that wealth often came in handy. Červený Kameň was damaged over and over again, meaning the poor (not in terms of moolah) Pálffy family were left to finance its restoration on a number of occasions. Today it houses an excellent museum, but its image is the real winner.
