It’s been a rough few months for the country; mainly due to political infighting, but some accomplishments were made and no overtly embarrassing gaffs occurred. Really, what more could you want?The Czech Republic isn’t only Prague you know; how long are you in town for? The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is on tap 3-11 July. If you miss it, go see the town anyway; it makes a good day trip and an even better overnighter. Look left for our lowdown. But Prague is fabulous; it’s okay not to leave. We’ve rounded-up all the best cultural happenings, events, concerts, and what have you; see for yourself in our cultural section. Many concert halls and theatres shutter their doors in July and August. All the more reason to make sure you get tickets to the Prague Proms International Music Festival at the end of July. Thank goodness with all the eye candy architecture, outdoor cafes, parks and hopefully lots of sun; it’s easy to wile away the inexpensive hours here. Just been ripped off 1000 CZK at their bar in Ostrovni by the bar-maid. Did not notice until i left. She gave me change for 1000 CZK instead of the 2000 CZK i gave her - the bar was dark and she was very friendly, making me lower my guard.[...]
Nice enough place but watch your change! I gave the bar lady a 2000 CZK note and was only given change for 1000 CZK (approx £30 less); but it was only when i got to the next bar i actually noticed. Ok i should have checked at the Dogs Bollocks [...]
DON'T go there. Though the women are beautiful, they do everything to rip you off. Think you done a good bargain and traded some xtra minutes into the private show. Better forget about it, because they just end the show before time is up. Crappy[...]
