Thomas Reads and The Oak

Thomas Reads and the Oak are essentially the same bar. Both have different entrances, but inside they lead to each other. The Oak is an old fashioned pub with all the trappings therein- wooden furniture, stools at the bar. Thomas Reads, though, is slightly hipper- with cool movie posters and cooler indie music. It’s a nice place on a Sunday afternoon because that’s when they break out the board games. Occasionally it’s got live music of the acoustic songwriter variety, and there’s a dancefloor downstairs for late-night alternative-music loving revellers. That can be a bit hot, sticky and crowded, but it’s a good place to cut some rug if you’re in the mood.
