Fushë-Arrëz

Kryezi village & waterfall

more than a year ago
Kryezi, 5km north of Fushë-Arrëz and 25km from Puka, is one of the region's most beautiful villages, a prosperous mixed muslim and christian community with small rivers crossing between the fields and orchards, and with many historical links to patriots of the Albanian renaissance around 1900. Several years ago, Kryezi was selected as one of 100 Albanian villages to receive special infrastructural, economic, and sustainable tourism development, which has strengthened its value for tourism visits. With good guesthouses serving organic meals and offering simple lodging and lovely hikes, it's a great place to stay for a while to sample the fresh air and the local berries and honey. North of the village in the lush Orosh river valley, the modest Ujëvara e Kryezit waterfall, or simply Kryeziu waterfall, is the main destination for visitors; the invitingly cool rapids and pools formed by the river around here are great for a refreshing dip on a hot day.
