Though the name suggests something grand, Central’nyi is actually one of the more neglected beaches in Kyiv. However, the tree roots and dense tufts of vegetation aren’t enough to ward off locals; the beach remains a popular destination. Its location near centre and numerous nearby cafés are definite advantages as are Trukhaniv Island’s expansive shaded areas perfect for picnics, walks and bicycle rides. Getting there: from Poshtova Ploscha metro station walk south along Naberezhne Shose to the Pedestrian bridge. Cross the river Dnipro and you have arrived.
