This elegant yet cosy restaurant and wine bar is a great place to enjoy a drink and gourmet nibbles while soaking up the atmosphere of Ljubljana's Old Town, either outside on the narrow cobbled street or inside under the restored red brick ceilings and soft lights. It's owned and operated by the winemaking Čok family from Slovenia's Istria region at the coast, and the menu is focused on the delectable Mediterranean delights from the area. High quality seasonal ingredients are one of the secrets to Altrokè's success, and local specialties are sourced directly from farmers - you can find a helpful map showing what product comes from which village on the back wall. And while many restaurants claim to use grandmother's recipes, it's actually the case here, and what's more grandmother is originally from Italy. Authentic through and through, there's lots to love here, which is exactly why we recommend it!
