On the 10th anniversary of the death of Maria Lassnig (1919-2014), one of the most important Austrian and internationally recognised artists, we are preparing her first solo exhibition at Cankarjev dom exhibition in Slovenia.

Lassnigova is known especially for her psychologically expressive self-portraits and the concept of Body Awareness. On her extraordinary artistic journey, she created a rich painting and drawing oeuvre, and she also devoted herself to film making (animated film). She lived in an engaged dialogue with her art, which formed a key element of her existence. Although the author received well-deserved public recognition relatively late in life, her works are now an important part of the collections of the most prominent museums (MoMA in New York, The Essl Collection, Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Albertina Museum in Vienna and elsewhere).
