Ballydougan Pottery, Restaurant, Gift Shop and Cottages
Eat, sleep, shop and create at this picture postcard pottery set in a beautifully restored 18th century linen barn and outbuildings. Potter Sean O'Dowd and his wife Marie have established this great one-stop venue just a few minutes' south of Lurgan.
The visitor experience begins at Bloomvale House, a Grade 2 listed thatched cottage which houses a Restaurant & Coffee Lounge and oh-so-cute Gift Shop. Sit by the large inglenook fire and enjoy morning coffee, afternoon tea and hearty home-cooked lunches prepared with locally sourced produce.
As befits its creative setting, all food is served on Ballydougan Pottery which you can see being made in the adjoining craft studio. Individually decorated with distinctive floral and fruit motifs, this rustic stoneware can also be purchased on site to provide a unique memento of your trip. Book ahead and you and a group of friends can also have a go at throwing you own pot or painting your own design.
After all that culinary and crafty indulgence, retire to one of the five cosy courtyard cottages. Sleeping two to six people, the characterful accommodation contains Ballydougan's distinct pottery, and comes with all mod-cons for a stress-free stay. You can also arrange for dinner or picnic baskets to be prepared and served from the restaurant to your abode.
Set in a tranquil rural landscape, yet mere minutes to the bustling towns of Portadown and Lurgan, Ballydougan Pottery provides an inspiring daytrip or overnight escape.
